You Don’t Have To Stay In The Dark

What does it mean to live in the dark?
Darkness has many faces. It’s depression. It’s bad health. It’s anger and unforgiveness. It’s sickness and death. It’s loneliness and exhaustion. It’s living without purpose. It’s abuse—whether past or present.
Darkness can be confusion, chaos, disorder, and despair. Sometimes it’s loud and obvious. Other times, it’s quiet and disguised, hidden behind a smile, behind success, behind a busy schedule.
And yet, in the middle of it all, Jesus says this:
“I have come as light into the world so that whoever believes in me would not stay in darkness.” (John 12:46 NCV)
That’s not a suggestion—it’s a rescue. Jesus didn’t come to expose you in shame; He came to lift you into freedom.
He came to pull you out of the fog. To set your feet on solid ground. He is the Light. God is light. The Holy Spirit is light. And the invitation is clear: You don’t have to stay in the dark.
Sometimes we want God to light up the whole road ahead, but often He doesn’t. Instead, His light shines just enough for the next step.
Like the psalmist said, “Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.” (Psalm 119:105 NLT)
That kind of light may not show you everything, but it will show you enough. Enough to keep walking. Enough to take one more step out of the shadows and into the truth.
So, are you in the dark… or are you in the light?
Darkness may describe where you’ve been, but it doesn’t have to define where you’re going. Jesus is calling you and me - step into the light. Even if it’s just one step at a time, He’ll be there to meet you.
Know it - trust it - believe it - act on it.
GOD, you see me right where I am. You know the places I hide, the fears I carry, the burdens I can’t shake. But You are light - and in You, there is no darkness at all. Thank You for sending Jesus to rescue me, not condemn me. Thank You for Your Word that lights up my path. Even when I can’t see the whole road, help me trust You with the next step. Lead me, guide me, and fill me with Your peace. IJNIP amen ♥️
