Where do your plans and strategies for success come from? For the most part, everyone wants to be successful. So how?
I’ve always said “reading” is the fastest way to learn. I don’t think we have enough life to figure everything out in one lifetime.
My sister used to say; “Life is like a cruise, about the time you figure out the ship, the trip is over.”
Pretty profound. Reading, allows us to learn from professional counselors and advisors who speak to and experience thousands of people and almost unlimited circumstances.
However, what does God have to say about how we act, react and live? He’s the one that created us. He knows us best.
The prophet Isaiah said “The Lord says, “My thoughts are not like your thoughts. Your ways are not like my ways. Just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9 NCV)
God’s ways and the Bible is the best operators manual known to man.
All PhD counselors who write about and provide good and Godly counsel involving truth, simply provide different versions and packaging of what is already documented in the Bible.
So Yes, I highly recommend Christian counselors. However, I recommend more so in reading God’s word. His words are the single most reliable words to follow. He not only knows, he directs, controls, orchestrates and provides miracles and solutions.
And the Holy Spirit will help you understand and implement. It doesn’t get any better than that!
It’s just amazing what can happen as we connect to Godly wisdom, Godly people and research and read on our own. I see so many people struggle with things and the answers that are right in front of them.
We just have to stop, confess we don’t know it all and seek solutions through God’s word, God’s people and do some homework on our own.
One last tip. Knowing is one thing. Doing is another.
The Apostle James said: “So put out of your life every evil thing and every kind of wrong. Then in gentleness accept God’s teaching that is planted in your hearts, which can save you.” (James 1:21 NCV)
He said “Do what God’s teaching says; when you only listen and do nothing, you are fooling yourselves. Those who hear God’s teaching and do nothing are like people who look at themselves in a mirror. They see their faces and then go away and quickly forget what they looked like.” (James 1:22-24 NCV)
He concluded: “But the truly happy people are those who carefully study God’s perfect law that makes people free, and they continue to study it. They do not forget what they heard, but they obey what God’s teaching says. Those who do this will be made happy.” (James 1:25 NCV)
Yes, it’s simple, but not easy. For some reason, we simply fight good counsel, reading our Bible and desiring God’s way. Yet when we do - there’s nothing like it.
LORD, help us to love you. If we do, we will follow and trust you. Help us love others. If we do, we will not do them wrong. IJNIP amen ♥️
