If you only had one thing that would make you happier and live a more full life, what would it be?
Whatever it is, if you only focused on that one thing, could you accomplish it?
It may be faith to cope with a terminal disease. It may be something to do with health or an addiction. It might be a relationship. It may be a closer walk with God - and the list could go on.
So why don’t you overcome that one thing?
What noise is distracting you? What voices are you listening to? What distractions are keeping you from accomplishing that one, very important thing?
King Solomon once said “Wisdom is like a woman shouting in the street; she raises her voice in the city squares. She cries out in the noisy street and shouts at the city gates:” (Proverbs 1:20-21 NCV)
Solomon paints a picture of people hearing the loud call of wisdom shouting while other noises, voices and distractions keep us from hearing the wise way(s). This kind of wisdom only comes from God.
The truth is, we don’t accomplish that one thing because we don’t prioritize and focus on it. We aren’t listening. Instead, other things (and people) get our attention.
Many people chase the wrong things. So what’s the solution?
The answer is not easy, but it is simple.
Some are looking at potential death this year and they need peace, faith and how to transition from this life to the next.
Others need help to overcome. They have tried, but keep failing and they are tired of facing defeat.
So what’s the answer?
It’s prayer and fasting. I know it sounds too simple. However, if we ask God, if we ask Christ, if we ask the Holy Spirit for help, faith, strength, they will provide what we need. We must fast from the distractions and focus.
For they dying, the prayer is “GOD help me in my potential death and transition.”
For the struggling, the prayer is “LORD, please take away my desire and give me strength.”
For those who need help, the prayer is “HOLY SPIRIT please bring someone to encourage me and help me and give me strength.”
The prayers are small and simple, yet the desire for God to show up in our life is big. We must love God with all that we have (Matthew 22:37). He will come if we ask.
If we walk close to God, we ride alongside in His protection, His provision, His saftey, His peace and His love. His love will give us what we need.
This is the reason He gave us Jesus Christ. Because He knew we were going to need Him. God never promised easy times. However He did promise a way out misery and gives eternal life through Christ.
LORD, I pray for those facing unexpected potential death. I pray for those who fight addiction. I pray for the down-hearted that need strength. Please come to us. HOLY SPIRIT please help us in our faith, our weakness and our transition from where we are to where we need to go. Please help us. IJNIP amen ♥️
