Less Effort, Better Outcome

How things going in your life right now? Do you ever feel like life is either really long and hard or full of mountaintop highs?

We work so hard to make it good. We want things to go well. We want to be happy. But even on our best days, life can change in an instant. And no matter what, it all ends in death.

Right now, I’m in Rome looking at the Colosseum. At one time, it was the pride of the Roman Empire. The government thought nothing could bring it down. But today it’s just ruins.

A massive reminder that what looks strong and unshakable doesn’t last.

In Paul’s day, he saw Christians doing the same thing with their faith. They were working hard to try and earn God’s approval. He asked them:

“Tell me this one thing: How did you receive the Holy Spirit? Did you receive the Spirit by following the law? No, you received the Spirit because you heard the Good News and believed it. You began your life in Christ by the Spirit. Now are you trying to make it complete by your own power? That is foolish.” (Galatians 3:2-3 NCV)

I get that. I’ve done it too. I try harder, work longer, do more, thinking it will finally make me feel fulfilled. Paul reminds us that it’s not our power that matters. It’s God’s.

The same God who was here when the Colosseum was built is still here today. He hasn’t changed. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8 NCV)

The truth is, Christ already gave us a complete life. Not because of rules. Not because of effort. But because of His sacrifice. Our good works mean nothing if we’re not living in the power of the Spirit.

So if you’re tired today, if you’re wondering where all this is headed, stop. Just pray. Ask God for help. Ask Him to give your life purpose and fill you with His Spirit.

He did it then, He will do it now.

Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are tired and have heavy loads, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28 NCV)

Lord, please bless our work, our faith, and our love for you. IJNIP amen ♥️
