What if we could see the life of those after they have died - how would it affect us today?
What happens after a person dies? Do you ever ponder that?
The Bible has a lot to say about it. It describes where we go. How we will be resurrected. God describes heaven, hell, the new earth and the new heaven. He elaborates on Jesus’ return and locking up Satan forever. He even describes our new eternal bodies.
Have you ever studied these things?
Prior to the all the information in the New Testament, he described things more simply in the Old Testament. One time God told Jeremiah to tell the sinning people of Judah:
“You people of Judah, go now to the town of Shiloh, where I first made a place to be worshiped. See what I did to it because of the evil things the people of Israel had done.” (Jeremiah 7:12 NCV)
Why did God say this? Because He wanted them to see and know that;
“You people of Judah have done all these evil things too, says the Lord. I spoke to you again and again, but you did not listen to me. I called you, but you did not answer.” (Jeremiah 7:13 NCV)
God gave them a warning. He said:
“So I will destroy the place where I have chosen to be worshiped in Jerusalem. You trust in that place, which I gave to you and your ancestors, but I will destroy it just as I destroyed Shiloh.” (Jeremiah 7:14 NCV)
God was trying to show them their future. He even had Jeremiah give them details. He said:
“Obey me, and I will be your God and you will be my people. Do all that I command so that good things will happen to you.” (Jeremiah 7:23 NCV)
Why would they desire anything else?
Honestly, things have not changed. Many never vet the things I mentioned above. Many simply don’t have interest to study and learn about their life after death, the resurrection, heaven, hell, the new earth and heaven - even our new bodies we will have in eternity.
Like those in the OT days, many people live for today instead of investing in eternity. God try’s to give us His blessings in this life and the next.
Even Jesus Christ said himself; “Give, and you will receive. You will be given much. Pressed down, shaken together, and running over, it will spill into your lap. The way you give to others is the way God will give to you.” (Luke 6:38 NCV)
I’ve lived both ways. On many days, following God is not easy. It’s not cotton candy and Cadillacs. However there is a peace, a deep joy, and incredible blessings for us now. And yes, even health, wealth and happiness to some.
If we could see the life after, I believe it would affect us in great ways. We are shown what it will look like - it’s all described in the Bible.
Nothing is guaranteed, but the love and blessings that is promised to us in God’s word is guaranteed. It’s truly Amazing Grace.
LORD, thank you for offering a way for our sins to be forgiven and the promise of salvation now and for eternity. Thank you for Jesus Christ and the salvation He provides us today and forever. IJNIP amen ♥️
