We Claim To Be Christian - What’s That Look Like?

How do you differ from those who don’t confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior?

WHAT’S IT MEAN - “GRABBING HOLD OF THE LIFE THAT CONTINUES FOREVER?”

Today, I read: “Fight the good fight of faith, grabbing hold of the life that continues forever. You were called to have that life when you confessed the good confession before many witnesses.” (1 Timothy‬ ‭6‬:‭12‬ ‭NCV‬‬)

So, how do you grab hold of the life that continues forever? What does it mean to live this way?

I think the practical, life-changing lessons are really simple.

1. Stop living as though this world is all there is. We spend enormous amounts of time accumulating possessions, improving our homes, pursuing pleasures, and protecting our lifestyles. None of those things is necessarily wrong, but none lasts forever.

2. Fight for your faith. Paul calls it a fight because living faithfully requires resisting temptation, false teaching, selfish desires, and spiritual complacency.

3. Make decisions with eternity in mind. Before pursuing something, ask yourself: Is this helping me become the person God wants me to be, or is it simply satisfying another temporary desire?

4. Live your eternal life today. Knowing Christ should change how you treat your spouse, handle money, respond to difficult people, forgive offenses, and use your time.

DO WE REALLY TAKE SCRIPTURE SERIOUSLY?

I don’t know about you, but just this brief, short, piece of scripture is convicting. How about you? What does it mean to you personally?

GOD, help us take our confession seriously. Let it change who we are, how we live, so that we finish this life well. May we give it our best, in love for you, and love for others. IJNIP amen ♥️
