Would you say that you have true peace and freedom in your life? I met someone yesterday that claimed a love for God, while involved in an affair.
I get it. In your heart, you feel in love with God, yet at the same time, they feel in love with the adulterous affair.
We all desire and lust after things and people that don’t always align themselves with God, while we profess a love for God - so don’t judge this person too harshly.
Speaking of judgement, remember what the Apostle Paul told the Romans; “As the Scriptures say: “There is no one who always does what is right, not even one.” (Romans 3:10 NCV) - we all fall short.
That said, typically, unless all the cracks, crevices and corners in a house are clean, you can’t claim that the house is clean. Some may argue this, but clean is clean in my opinion.
So why bring this up? Because I think peace (feeling clean and free) only come through Jesus Christ.
The Apostle Peter said once; “God accepts anyone who worships him and does what is right. You know the message that God has sent … that peace has come through Jesus Christ. Jesus is the Lord of all people!” (Acts 10:35-36 NCV)
So what does “peace through Jesus Christ”mean? The answer is simple, but the commitment may not be that easy.
Peace through Christ means to first accept Him as your personal Lord and Savior. What is Lord and Savior of your life? If Christ is, please remember Jesus himself said ““If you love me, you will obey my commands.” (John 14:15 NCV)
When we follow the commands, then peace and real freedom grows.
Something about following commands that were written for our own good, as we do, our love for God, and love for people grow. Our appreciation of forgivenss grows and therefore we forgive and love others as we have been forgiven.
Having a real desire for obedience and having an obedient trust in salvation and living out that salvation, meaning following God’s and Jesus’ teaching - bring true peace and freedom.
So if you struggle with peace and the feeling of being truly free, evaluate what part of your life is out of sync with biblical teaching. All you have to do is draw a line, write “start” and try to finish your life well. It is truly the only way to peace and freedom will arrive and stay in your life.
LORD, give me true peace and freedom first by loving and following you. Help me follow you because I love you, not just out of duty. IJNIP amen ♥️
