What will your body become after you leave this world? Have you ever thought about what your resurrected body will be like for the Christ follower?
Some powerful hints come from Jesus’s resurrected body …
In John 20:26, we read something remarkable:
“A week later the followers were in the house again … but Jesus came in and stood right in the middle of them… “(NCV)
The doors were locked, and yet Jesus simply appeared in the middle of the room. This wasn’t a ghost or a spirit. It was Jesus—resurrected, glorified, and physical.
Just a few verses earlier, He had invited Thomas to touch His wounds (John 20:27). In Luke’s account, He ate a piece of fish to prove He wasn’t a spirit (Luke 24:42–43).
And yet, He moved in and out of rooms without doors. He vanished from sight in Emmaus (Luke 24:31).
He appeared on the shore in John 21 without warning. It’s clear: His resurrected body was no longer limited by the natural laws of space and time.
Now here’s the incredible part. Scripture says that we will be like Him.
“He will change our humble bodies and make them like his own glorious body.” (Philippians 3:21 NCV)
“We know that when Christ comes again, we will be like him, because we will see him as he really is.” (1 John 3:2 NCV)
We won’t just be restored, we’ll be transformed.
Not just patched up, but made completely new. No more sickness. No more limitations. No more aging or pain. These weak, broken-down bodies will be raised in glory. (1 Corinthians 15:42–44).
Can we appear and disappear like Jesus did?
Scripture doesn’t give us a step-by-step list—but it strongly implies that our glorified bodies will share the same qualities as His.
That means freedom. That means power. That means beauty and purpose without any weakness or decay.
But even more than that, we’ll be able to do and think about what we’ll finally be free from. All the struggles. All the groaning. All the aches, cancers, disease, disabilities, and scars. It will be all gone.
So yes, we hold on to hope. And yes, it’s unimaginable. However it’s not a vague hope, but a confident, promised future.
“So we do not give up. Our physical body is becoming older and weaker, but our spirit inside us is made new every day.” ( 2 Corinthians 4:16 NCv)
“We have small troubles for a while now, but they are helping us gain an eternal glory that is much greater than the troubles.” (2 Corinthians 4:17 NCV)
This life is not the end. The best is yet to come. We don’t die, just our bodies do.
And then? Look out. Because you are about to be transformed to something unimaginable.
As the Apostle Paul told the Corinthians: “This body can be destroyed … but it will clothe itself with that which can never be destroyed, and this body that dies will clothe itself with that which can never die.” (1 Corinthians 15:54 NCV)
“When this happens, this Scripture will be made true: “Death is destroyed forever in victory.” “Death, where is your victory? Death, where is your pain?” (1 Corinthians 15:54-55 NCV)
JESUS, thank You for showing us what’s to come. You conquered death, and You’re preparing something greater than we can imagine. Help us not to fear the end, but to look forward with confidence. Remind us that the pain we feel now is temporary, and glory is coming in just an instant. ❤️
