How Happy Are You?

Are you truly a happy person? Are you one who counts on a regular basis the good things happening in your life?

Are you really happy?

I suppose I would also ask you, what are you happy about?

What brings you deep joy? What makes you thankful in meaningful ways? What in your life do you think about and you might think to yourself; “It just doesn’t get any better than this?”

I would ask you to please stop and think about these questions and maybe even take a moment and jot down the answers before you read on.

So why ask these questions?

Because so many are working hard at life and simply are not deeply joyful and happy. Many are tired, some are worn out, and others are hunting for happiness and not reaching their destination.

So where does real happiness come from?

King Solomon once said: “Where there is no word from God, people are uncontrolled, but those who obey what they have been taught are happy.” (Proverbs‬ ‭29‬:‭18‬ ‭NCV‬‬)

It’s so true. I can tell you when I have come out of God’s lane, it seemed intriguing and exciting, however it lead to much pain and failure.

I have learned from counseling many people over the years, I’m not unique - we are all sinners and we think and feel crazy things, regardless of our ages.

Everyone is searching for happiness, contentment and reaching a full life. Everyone wants a mission, a purpose and to feel true joy in their life. So we search, but are we searching for the right things in the right places?

God’s word is the most purest form of counsel, and direction. His words speak life into dead situations - every time. If we are honest, only when we live-out God’s ways, only then do we find true happiness and joy.

I think everyone knows joy and happiness can differ.

Happiness is external and normally driven by circumstance, events and achievements. It’s temporary and contingent upon external factors.

Joy on the other hand comes from within and not tied to external events. It has a sense of purpose, gratitude, and inner peace. It’s more lasting and resilient and persistent in difficult circumstances.

Joy is a state of being, spiritual fulfillment, deep meaning and a connection with something greater than ourselves.

Yet what is exciting is how many times God’s words promise happiness (including joy). Evidence that has never been defied is that following the lifestyle, faith and trust that God prescribes always works.

He speaks of marriage, parenting, investing, forgiving, loving, working hard, health and the list is endless. It may be a good time to evaluate our joy and happiness.

GOD, help us know your word and live it. Please give us joy and happiness as we walk close to you and love others as ourself. IJNIP amen ♥️.
