He Does It For His Own Sake

Have you ever wondered why God seems to let bad people get away with bad things?
It feels unfair sometimes. We see people lie, cheat, or hurt others and still seem to prosper, while those who try to live right often struggle. It makes you want to ask, “Where is God’s justice?”
Psalm 106:8 says, “But the Lord saved them for his own sake, to show his great power.” (Psalm 106:8 NCV)
What does God saving them (you and me) for his “own sake” mean?
God doesn’t act because people deserve it; He acts because of who He is. His actions reflect His character, not our performance. That’s good news when we fail, but it’s confusing when we watch evil succeed.
What may look like injustice is often God’s mercy in disguise, the same mercy that once gave you and me time to turn around.
“The Lord is not slow in doing what he promised—the way some people understand slowness. But God is being patient with you. He does not want anyone to be lost, but he wants all people to change their hearts and lives.” (2 Peter 3:9 NCV)
Still, patience does not erase justice.
“My friends, do not try to punish others when they wrong you, but wait for God to punish them with his anger. It is written: ‘I will punish those who do wrong; I will repay them,’ says the Lord.” (Romans 12:19 NCV)
God’s justice always comes, but at the right time. He waits because He is wise, not weak. His delay may be His invitation for someone to change, or His test for us to trust Him.
If you’re the one doing wrong, this might be your time to stop running. “The Lord sees what happens everywhere; he is watching the evil and the good.” (Proverbs 15:3 NCV)
He sees what no one else does, but He waits because He wants you to return to Him. “But if we confess our sins, he will forgive our sins, because we can trust God to do what is right. He will cleanse us from all the wrongs we have done.” (1 John 1:9 NCV)
His correction isn’t punishment; it’s love. “The Lord warns those he loves; he corrects them as a father corrects a child he delights in.” (Proverbs 3:12 NCV)
So when it feels like bad people are getting away with bad things, remember that God’s patience has a purpose, His justice has perfect timing, and His mercy through Jesus is proof of His power.
“People reap what they plant.” (Galatians 6:7 NCV)
Jesus paid the price for our sins, every secret one, every public one, so that we could be forgiven and made whole. His grace is the reason any of us still stand and speak of justice. But only God’s justice.
When you don’t understand what God is doing, pray - then pray some more.
He is watching, listening, and working in ways you can’t yet see. God’s character is love, but He is just. He deals with sin when the time is right, and He rescues when the time is right.
LORD, give mea heart that trust you — no matter what. IJNIP amen ♥️
