Balance The Big And The Small

How are you at managing the small things?

Be honest. do you let the little stuff slide until it turns into something big? I sure have. If you ignore a bunch of small things, they’ll grow into a big mess before you know it.

God speaks to this: “If you can be trusted with small things, you can also be trusted with big things. But if you are dishonest in little things, you will not be honest with big things.” (Luke 16:10 NCV)

God watches how we handle the small stuff.

Big problems usually start small. It’s true with food, drink, debt, pride, laziness, or neglect. It’s true in relationships too. Stop saying “thank you” or “I love you,” and before long distance sneaks in.

It’s true with faith. skip a few quiet times or church services, and suddenly God feels far away. Small things add up.

Even something as simple as reading the Bible for fifteen minutes a day can change your whole life. If you stay at it, you’ll read the Bible cover to cover in a year. To be honest, this is the biggest and most important thing in our life.

If you read the Bible every day - it “will” change your life. “Your word is like a lamp for my feet and a light for my path.” (Psalm 119:105 NCV)

Now I’ll admit, I can get pretty OCD about it all. I keep lists. I evaluate everything; spiritual, educational, professional, physical, family, and social, usually in that order.

I think all of it matters. But I’ve also learned you can’t major in the minors. You can’t do everything perfectly. Sometimes balance means slowing down and remembering that God cares more about your heart than your checklist.

Solomon said, “There is a right time for everything, and everything on earth will happen at the right time.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1 NCV)

So, balance the big and the small. Do what you can, take small steps, and trust God with the rest.

Maybe there are small things in your life that started to get out of hand, habits, bitterness, neglect, or worry. The way back is the same way they started - small.

Start where you are. Take one step. Clean one corner. Read one verse. Pray one prayer. You’ll be amazed at how the little things begin to add up for good.

And don’t forget, Jesus did the biggest thing of all. He carried the weight of all our “small” sins and our “big” ones to the cross. “Christ died for our sins … “ (1 Corinthians 15:3 NCV) His death paid for every failure, every forgotten moment, every small thing we couldn’t fix. He redeems us completely.

LORD, help us have balance. Help us not get lost in the little things or ignore what’s most important - You. Don’t let us fall for Satan’s deceptive plan to keep us busy and distracted with small things that don’t matter. Remind us that his goal is to pull our attention away from You and make us waste our days chasing meaningless things. Help us trim off what doesn’t belong, focus on what matters most, and keep our eyes on You. Thank You for loving us enough to handle both the big and small parts of our lives. IJNIP amen ♥️
