Are You Guilty Of Judging Others?

Is there someone on your black list that you have not forgiven? Are you guilty of judging others?

What does “judging others” mean? Webster defines it as: “evaluating, assessing, or forming a critical opinion of someone or something”.

There is a difference of creating safe boundaries from toxic or negative people and “not” forgiving them.

If you distance yourself from others due to your anger or resentment, you hurt yourself whether you believe it or not.

The Apostle Paul said: “You judge those who do wrong, but you do wrong yourselves.” (Romans 2:3 NCV) Who are we to judge?

He says if we judge others, “Do you think you will be able to escape the judgment of God?” (Romans 2:3b NCV) Meaning, if we are to be judged by God, then we are not “the” judge - God is.

We should be humble and kind as we consider others. Paul said “God has been very kind and patient, waiting for you to change, but you think nothing of his kindness.” (Romans 2:NCV)

We should treat others as God has treated us. Said another way, if God is kind in his patience, we should be kind and forgiving too.

He adds, “Perhaps you do not understand that God is kind to you so you will change your hearts and lives.” (Romans 2:4b NCV) So we should be kind as others work through their faults or wrong doings.

Yet the Apostle Paul says to those who judge:

“But you are stubborn and refuse to change, so you are making your own punishment even greater on the day he shows his anger. On that day everyone will see God’s right judgments.” (Romans‬ ‭2‬:‭5‬ ‭NCV‬‬)

That’s a scary thought for those who judge others. God holds us accountable and will judge us in a just way.

GOD, in the end, only you judge. Help us stay away from caustic and toxic people, yet help us to forgive them. However if they are not toxic and we are just angry or resentful, help us see that in ourselves and not judge. IJNIP amen ♥️
