Are Our Lives Really Judged By God?

Will God judge your and my life? What will it be based upon? When will you be judged? Do you believe in the judgment?

I bring this topic up because of all the OT books I read in my Bible schedule.

When you read the words God gave the major and minor prophets it really can become redundant. Not only that, you can become numb to it.

Do you know the difference between the major and minor prophets? It’s the length of their books (words).

The theme was the same. God’s people would sin against him (breaking the Ten Commandments and more) and God would send the prophets to warn them and ask them to repent and return to God and His ways.

For example, once he told a major prophet, Ezekiel:

“Human, the Lord God says this to the land of Israel: An end! The end has come on the four corners of the land. Now the end has come for you, and I will send my anger against you. I will judge you for the way you have lived, and I will make you pay for all your actions that I hate.” (Ezekiel‬ ‭7‬:‭1‬-‭3‬ ‭NCV‬‬)

Why are these stories in the Bible? To warn and educate us. However, to be honest, when you read these types of warnings over and over it can sound monotonous and even lose its impact.

Yet, in the end, I believe we will all be judged.

Of course you need to believe in God, the Bible, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit for judgement to mean something to you.

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

This quote should resonate with us.

When I read the Bible, especially the main theme “Love God with all and love others as myself” - I have to read slow and carefully. Otherwise, judgement becomes meaningless. I’ve read about judgement so many times, I have to be careful not to glaze over the words.

Now, when I read, I try to imagine judgement. I visualize things the Bible speaks of prior to Christ returning and the judgment taking place. I create a picture in my mind as I stand before Christ as I recall my life.

I must make it real in my heart, and my head otherwise it will not impact my life.

When I think of God and His judgement words, I’m reminded of the grace and gift of Jesus Christ. I’m thankful God has offered a way for my sins to be forgiven through Christ. I’m thankful my soul has been saved from hell by Christ. I’m thankful for God’s love in offering Christ as my replacement.

Christ lived the perfect life for me and instead of me. He died the death I should have experienced. All I have to do is trust and beleive it’s all true. And let that truth impact my life and lifestyle today.

I know it can all sound religous and churchy, but it’s actually all real to me. I hope it deeply affects my thinking, how I love others, how hard I work, honoring my body (where the Holy Spirit lives), my worship and a host of other things that make up life.

Paul told the Corinthians; “We must all stand before Christ to be judged. Each of us will receive what we should get—good or bad—for the things we did in the earthly body.” (2 Corinthians‬ ‭5‬:‭10‬ ‭NCV‬)

LORD, help me live remembering that I will be held accountable. However more importantly, give me the love for you and others and let that love direct my life and behaivor. When I think of you, I think of grace, love and forgiveness. Help me live with these powerful attributes of life. IJNIP amen ♥️
