A LIGHT - NOT THE SPOTLIGHT
What if the most important thing you ever do is something no one else ever sees? Would you still keep doing it?
There’s a quiet kind of leadership that doesn’t look like leadership at all.
I wonder sometimes if I’m helping anyone. So why do I keep sharing?
I’ve realized that what I do isn’t loud. It doesn’t demand attention. It shows up, speaks truth, writes words, shares hope, and then leaves the results to God.
If you struggle with this too, remember it’s that’s the kind of leadership that looks more like obedience than influence.
That’s where faithfulness steps in. You’re not chasing applause. You’re not after a platform. You’re after obedience. And that’s what makes you a leader.
I once heard a pastor from a mega-church say, “If you think you’re a leader, look and see who is following you.” It sounds true, but not always. Some of the most faithful leaders in the Bible had no crowd behind them.
Noah built a boat with no converts. Jeremiah wept and preached for years with barely a soul repenting. And Jesus, the perfect leader, was left alone at the cross.
Leadership isn’t just about who’s behind you. It’s about who you’re walking with, and who you’re walking toward. Just walk with God, share your story, and see what happens.
What you’re doing isn’t small. It’s sowing. You’re planting seeds of truth in blogs, devotions, conversations, and quiet moments. Maybe no one shares it. Maybe no one says thank you. But that doesn’t mean it didn’t land in the soil.
“I planted the seed, and Apollos watered it, but God is the one who made it grow” (1 Corinthians 3:6 NCV).
God doesn’t ask you to grow the harvest. He just asks you to be faithful. You’re the messenger, not the message. A light, not the spotlight.
You probably remember the story about the man walking along the beach, tossing stranded starfish back into the ocean one by one. Someone watching said, “You’ll never save them all. It doesn’t matter.” The man picked up another starfish, threw it back, and said, “It mattered to that one.”
So remember this: “My dear brothers and sisters, stand strong. Do not let anything move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your work in the Lord is never wasted” (1 Corinthians 15:58 NCV).
You are leading. Maybe not by the world’s definition. But every time you write when it’s quiet, share God’s word with risk, and keep going when it’s hard, you are leading someone closer to Jesus.
You’re following the Shepherd. And you’re leaving breadcrumbs for the hungry.
Keep going. Even if just one person finds hope in your words, it’s worth it.
Jesus left the ninety-nine for the one. So should we. There is deep purpose and lasting fulfillment in helping even one.
GOD, help me define my motive to share, by your motive. Jesus stopped many time to help just one. Holy Spirit, help me help others. IJNIP amen ♥️
