Why Don’t We Confess?

What in your life do you need to confess? Maybe a secret sin. Maybe a secret bad habit. Maybe anger, unforgiveness, or judging others - the list could go on.

Many people want to be seen in a good light while they sin, fail or struggle. Why is that?

Ironically, the stage is where we hide. We hide our sin, our bad habits, and struggles, however when we get on the stage of life, we want look like we have it all together.

And the truth is, sometimes we simply don’t have it all together. So what should we do?

Just be honest. Share your struggles with God and another trusted Godly person. The moment you confess, the weight of life will be lifted off of you. Finally, you will be free and liberated.

In the book of Jeremiah, God gave him this message:

“Go and speak this message toward the north: ‘Come back, unfaithful people of Israel,’ says the Lord. ‘I will stop being angry at you, because I am full of mercy,’ says the Lord. ‘I will not be angry with you forever.” (Jeremiah 3:12 NCV)

God character is still the same now as it was then. He sincerely and lovingly wants a relationship us. How great is that?

God went on to tell them: “All you have to do is admit your sin— that you turned against the Lord your God and worshiped gods under every green tree and didn’t obey me,’ ” says the Lord. (Jeremiah 3:13 NCV)

The simple solution for freedom and liberation is to admit our sin. All we have to do is confess our weakness and share our struggle with God and someone else. The key is honesty and transparency.

So what does God desire for you and me?

He said: “How happy I would be to treat you as my own children and give you a pleasant land, a land more beautiful than that of any other nation.” (Jeremiah‬ ‭3‬:‭19‬ ‭NCV‬‬) Why does God love us so much? It’s grace. He is love.

How great would it be to finally feel clean, and purge all the negative weight from your life through confession and asking for help?

Even Christ said: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” (‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11‬:‭28‬-‭29‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

So why don’t we confess? Why don’t we seek the rest we need? Why do we want others to think we have it together as we struggle on the inside? Living like this erodes our spirit and mental health.

Maybe today you and I should think about what we truly struggle with. Maybe it’s time to analyze our life and reach out for help. Maybe it’s time to confess and seek help.

GOD, help us come clean, stay clean and help one another with the things we struggle with. You desire a relationship with us. Help us desire one with you. IJNIP amen ♥️
