What Happens To You As You Age?

How does age affect you? I suppose it depends on your age. For some, it’s aches and pains. For others, it’s excess weight and diminished strength.

Others become sick, take medication and get tired easily. And some age with great success.

Even the mighty King David - The Warrior experienced age. The author of 2 Samuel wrote:

“Again there was war between the Philistines and Israel. David and his men went out to fight the Philistines, but David became tired.”

“Ishbi-Benob, one of the sons of Rapha, had a bronze spearhead weighing about seven and one-half pounds and a new sword. He planned to kill David, but Abishai son of Zeruiah killed the Philistine and saved David’s life.”

“Then David’s men made a promise to him, saying, “Never again will you go out with us to battle. If you were killed, Israel would lose its greatest leader.” (‭‭2 Samuel‬ ‭21‬:‭15‬-‭17‬ ‭NCV‬‬)

There comes a time when we just slow down, our body becomes weaker. Some fight it and work through the pain, others age gracefully. No matter the effort, age finally arrives.

Some of our aging problems are brought upon ourself through bad lifestyles. Others cannot be avoided.

The greatest part of aging is, or at least should be, is the wisdom we gather, the experience we gain and the opportunity to help others with the things we have learned - to pay it forward.

Have you become more wise? Has your life improved through aging? Have you stayed as strong and healthy as you can?

Aging is hard enough. If we haven’t been good stewards of what God has provided, well, it’s just makes aging harder.

I like the way King David aged.

He confessed his wrongs. He returned to God and walked with Him to end. He tried his best to finish well. Because the day did arrive. The day he died. I believe he looked forward to the life that was to come - eternity.

There is nothing like aging with love, grace, loyalty to God and providing love to others - there really is nothing like aging like that.

LORD, help me share my education and experiences with others as I age. May it help someone who is looking for an easier way. Help me learn and keep learning. Help me be strong, and please give me a long, healthy life and may I do something worthy with it. IJNIP amen ♥️
