The Moment After You Die

What do you believe happens the moment your heart stops beating?

When your final breath leaves your body, does it all just end? Or does something beyond this life begin?

Every person eventually has to face this question. Some say death is simply the end. Others believe in Heaven and Hell. Some imagine everyone goes to Heaven, while others picture a kind of paradise for good people.

But what do you really believe?

Throughout history, God has reached out to people, calling them back into relationship with Him. Through prophets, miracles, and His Word, He has pleaded with us to stop sinning and return to Him. Over and over, He’s promised forgiveness and blessing if we would only come home to His heart.

Back in Jeremiah’s day, God told the prophet to deliver a hard message to His people, one more chance to repent before judgment came:

“Maybe the family of Judah will hear what disasters I am planning to bring on them and will stop doing wicked things. Then I would forgive them for the sins and the evil things they have done.” (Jeremiah 36:3 NCV)

That’s God’s mercy. That’s His heart. He was saying, “If you’ll just turn back to Me, I’ll forgive you.” The same message echoes today. The greatest disaster of all isn’t war or loss, it’s eternal separation from God.

Hell isn’t something we like to talk about, but ignoring it doesn’t make it less real. God created both Heaven and Hell, but His deep desire is for every soul to be saved.

We all sin. “All have sinned and are not good enough for God’s glory.” (Romans 3:23 NCV)

Yet through Jesus, God built the bridge that spans the gap between our sin and His holiness.

“Christ had no sin, but God made him become sin so that in Christ we could become right with God.” (2 Corinthians 5:21 NCV)

That’s the Gospel, the greatest love story in history. Jesus took our punishment on Himself. He paid for our sin, so that we could be forgiven, healed, and made whole. His death purchased our salvation. His resurrection proved His power to save.

When we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, we receive not just eternal life but peace, joy, and purpose in this life - now. It’s not all about blessings of the future.

Salvation isn’t just about what happens when we die, it changes how we live right now.

God told His people long ago, “Today I ask heaven and earth to be witnesses. I am offering you life or death, blessings or curses. Now, choose life so that you and your children may live.” (Deuteronomy 30:19 NCV)

When I think about the end of my life, I don’t fear it. Not because I’m perfect or strong, but because I’ve chosen Jesus. I believe when I die, my soul will be heaven bound. If I sleep until Christ’s return or if I go straight to heaven - both are peaceful and eternal. The Bible speaks of both.

And the truth is, it’s your choice too. God won’t force you. He invites you. The door is open, but you have to walk through it.

I choose Jesus. I call Him my Lord and Savior. I follow Him. I love Him. And I want to share His story. And I benefit greatly from Him today.

LORD, help us see truth clearly. Help us choose you today. Help us trust, beleive, love and follow you. IJNIP amen ♥️
