When The Healing Doesn’t Come

Why are some people never healed?

What about the person born with a disability? Or someone who never fully recovers from illness? Or the one who dies too soon?

Where is God in all of that?

It’s a hard question. We believe in a God who heals, restores, and redeems. Yet sometimes, the healing doesn’t come—at least not in the way we hoped. So how do we make sense of that?

In John 9, Jesus encounters a man born blind. His disciples ask:

"Teacher, whose sin caused this man to be born blind—his own or his parents’?" (John 9:2 NCV)

They wanted to assign blame. But Jesus responds, "It is not this man’s sin or his parents’ sin. He was born blind so that God’s power could be shown in him.” (John 9:3 NCV)

His condition wasn’t punishment—it had purpose.

But what if he was never healed? What then?

Healing is one way God shows His power. But it’s not the only way. Sometimes His power shows up in endurance, in joy through pain, in quiet strength, and in the people forever changed by a life the world might overlook.

Jesus invites us to stop asking, “Who’s to blame?” and start asking, “How might God work through this?”

The world honors beauty and strength. But God honors something deeper.

"God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong." — 1 Corinthians 1:27

"Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." — 1 Samuel 16:7

Those with physical or mental challenges often reflect pure love, deep courage, and contagious joy. Their lives shape families, churches, and communities. God’s power shines through:

- Parents who never give up

- Caregivers who serve with quiet faithfulness

- Churches who welcome all

- Believers who choose compassion over comfort

"Whatever you did for the least of these... you did for me." — Matthew 25:40

This world is still broken. But one day, all will be made right.

"He will wipe every tear... no more death, mourning, crying or pain..." — Revelation 21:4

"The lame will leap like a deer, the mute will shout for joy." — Isaiah 35:6

Some healings happen here. Others happen in heaven. But no life is wasted. No suffering is meaningless. God still works. God still sees.

The question is: Doe we see? Do we see God? Do we see God’s love and purpose in the pain?

Sometimes, the miracle isn’t the cure—it’s the courage. And that courage points to a God who walks with us through every storm, not just the ones He calms.

LORD, help us see You in all things. You see it all. You see us all. Help us see You. IJNIP amen ♥️
