What’s Reality?

What was the phone call, the event or the diagnosis that changed your life? If it has not happened, give it time, it’s coming. The death and sin rate is 100%.

It’s at these times when reality sets in. It’s when we know we are not in heaven yet. During these times, sin arrives, disease shows up and events can change our life instantly.

When Moses reached the Promised Land because of his past sin, God said he could look, but not enter. I wonder how he felt and what he was thinking as he:

”… climbed Mount Nebo from the plains of Moab to the top of Mount Pisgah, across from Jericho. From there the Lord showed him all the land … “ (Deuteronomy 34:1-3 NCV).

Three things were interesting during this time; One, Moses died there. Two, his body and eyes were still strong at 120 years old. And three, “He” buried Moses. Was the “he” God or an Angel?

The Bible documents it all:

“Then Moses, the servant of the Lord, died there in Moab, as the Lord had said. He buried Moses in Moab in the valley opposite Beth Peor, but even today no one knows where his grave is. Moses was one hundred twenty years old when he died. His eyes were not weak, and he was still strong.“ (‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭34‬:‭1‬-‭3‬, ‭5‬-‭7‬ ‭NCV‬‬)

Moses was told in advance that he would die there. If you stop and think about it, you and I are also told of our inevitable death.

In a way, you and I are climbing our Mt. Nebo.

Hopefully, this is not bad news, but encouraging news to make the most of today. As my good friend Derek is teaching me “live in the present”. That’s sage advice for us all.

We should seize today. Be nice. Forgive. Love the unlovely. Give. Worship God. Accept Christ and live as he is our Lord & Savior. Honor God with all that you have. And love others as yourself.

What else can we do in order to invest in eternity?

Because in the end, we really don’t die. Just our bodies do. If we live this way, God’s Kingdom comes to earth and in our life as it is in heaven.

We end up doing what Jesus prayed; “May your Kingdom come on earth, as it is in heaven.” (Matt. 6:10) There’s no better way to live. The rest is fleeing.

LORD, help us live in the present, but with an eternal perspective. May your kingdom come in our life as it unfolds in heaven. IJNIP amen ♥️
