Other than your employer, what or who do you serve?
As an employer for most of my working life, somehow, God helped me believe I should serve my employees.
Sometimes, my pride would get the best of me and I took on the boss syndrome, but for the most part, in my heart, I really did want to serve.
Who and what do you serve?
I have always loved the the opening of the book of Romans. The Apostle Paul writes “From Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus. God called me to be an apostle and chose me to tell the Good News.” (Romans 1:1 NCV)
No one really knows, but history has it that the Apostle Paul was beheaded in Rome. What ever his fate was, he served Jesus Christ until the end. I want to do that.
How about you?
When Christ said “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and most important command.” (Matthew 22:37,38 NCV)
And he also said “And the second command is like the first: ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself.’ All the law and the writings of the prophets depend on these two commands.” (Matthew 22:39, 40 NCV)
Loving God and loving others is about serving. And the “entire” bible is summarized in these two simple commands.
Christ knew we would love ourselves and boy do we love ourselves. The question is; “Can we love others like we love ourselves?”
He also said “If you love me, you will follow my commands.” (John 14:15)
God didn’t tell us to obey him, he said to “love” him. We serve what we love. How’s your love for God - Christ - The Holy Spirit - and for others?
There is nothing like serving in love.
LORD, help me serve you first. Help me serve others. Help me love you and desire your commands. IJNIP amen ♥️
