What Does It Mean To Be Saved?

How would you describe “being saved” to someone?

Is it a “get out of hell ticket”? Is it a way of life? Is it a knowledge of God, Jesus, The Holy Spirit, Heaven and Hell? Is it knowing the Bible?

Is it believing in Jesus Christ? What does it mean to believe in Jesus Christ?

What does it mean to be saved?

Jesus himself said: ”God did not send his Son into the world to judge the world guilty, but to save the world through him. People who believe in God’s Son are not judged guilty. Those who do not believe have already been judged guilty, because they have not believed in God’s one and only Son.“ (John‬ ‭3‬:‭17‬-‭18‬ ‭NCV‬)

So Jesus says “those who believe in God’s Son are saved” (not judged guilty). Believe in what?

Being judged “guilty” sounds like serious business. If you believe that we are judged after we die, then judgment time is coming, because we all die.

But judged based on what? Judged based on if we believe in God’s Son - it’s really that simple. We are not judged on our deeds.

First, being saved is not something earned. You can’t do enough good deeds as you and I continue to sin. It’s sin that earns a life in hell. Good deeds don’t earn a life in heaven, but sinful deeds earns a life in hell.

So what are we to do?

We must belive, trust and depend our eternal life on the fact that Jesus came to earth as human, but was once in heaven. For some, I know, it’s a stretch to believe.

Then, the Holy Spirit approaches us and helps us to understand and believe in this crazy salvation story. And with the help of The Holy Spirit, we believe that Jesus lived the perfect life (deeds) you and I won’t - and can’t.

Christ knows God requires a perfect life and payment for sin, otherwise we are destined to Hell. Jesus loves us enough to live the perfect life and gave his life through punshment of our sin, death on the cross and did it all for the payment of our sin.

The guilt payment is paid by Christ - for us and instead of us.

If we effortlessly believe and trust, we are saved. As a result of truly trusting in Christ, we then live (out of love and gratification), following His words, His ways and with great joy, fullness and eternal salvation.

Honestly it’s that simple. Why be judged guilty when you and I could be saved simply by believing and trusting in who and what Christ did for us?

GOD, and The Holy Spirit, please help anyone who struggles and says “I just can’t believe”. Help them believe, trust and be saved. It’s a personal decision. Help us all live out what we believe. Help us build a personal relationship with Godly living and prayer. And help us share what we know with those who may doubt. Help us all and thank you for Jesus Christ and sending Him to save us. IJNIP amen ♥️
