The Seperation Few Talk About

What do you picture when you think about the space between you and God?

If you could visualize your sin and the choices you regret, what would that distance look like? Sin does not just complicate life. Sin separates. It creates a divide between us and a holy God.

This might sound a bit like holy-rolly jargon. Because you will die, honestly, it’s the most important element in your life - and mine.

In the Old Testament, God’s presence stayed in the Holy of Holies, a sealed room only the high priest could enter once a year. A thick curtain hung there, reminding everyone that sin shuts us out from God. It was holy. Closed off. Unreachable.

But then came Jesus.

I try to picture Christ in heaven agreeing to come here. Agreeing to feel what we feel and live the perfect life we never will. Agreeing to die for the sin that keeps us from God’s love and forgiveness.

Scripture says, “We can enter through a new and living way that Jesus opened for us. It leads through the curtain, Christ’s body.” (Hebrews 10:20 NCV)

Jesus became the sacrifice. He took the punishment meant for us. “He was wounded for the wrong things we did… and we are healed because of his wounds.” (Isaiah 53:5 NCV)

When He died, the temple curtain literally tore from top to bottom. No one did it - God ripped it open. The separation was removed. It was the symbol that the separation had been eliminated.

However, without Christ, the separation remains forever. And the Bible is clear about where that leads. Hell is described as “darkness where people will cry and grind their teeth with pain.” (Matthew 25:30 NCV) It is a place of eternal separation from God. Hell really is hot and eternity is a long, long time.

But because of Jesus Christ, the way to God is now open, free, and you and I can decide our future.

Now anyone can enter God’s presence through Christ. He said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. The only way to the Father is through me.” (John 14:6 NCV)

So here is the question only you can answer.

What will you do with Jesus?

It’s not a pressure question - it’s an invitation. God is providing a way - offering to bring your and my sin (past, present and future) to forgiveness. This invitation takes your distance to closeness, your brokenness to healing, your eternity to salvation.

Literally, through a perfect life, payment for sin, dying for your and my sin, Jesus opened the way. He paid for our sin. He tore the curtain. He defeated death and hell. He is offering you and me new life.

The ultimate question is: “What will you choose?”

I told you it was going to sound religous, but really, it’s a practical, life giving invitation to take the void - and close it. This does not mean life becomes easy, but it does mean you have life eternal.

You will die - then what?

GOD, thank you for the invitation. Thank you for helping me understand. Thank you for giving me the desire for a life in Christ. Just thank you. IJNIP amen ♥️
