How Much Should You Pray For Something?

How many prayers does it take to move God to answer your prayer(s)? Is it one? Is it a thousand? Would one more prayer get the job done?

In the book of Isaiah, he wrote to the devastated Jerusalem:

“Jerusalem, I have put guards on the walls to watch. They must not be silent day or night. You people who remind the Lord of your needs in prayer should never be quiet. You should not stop praying to him until he builds up Jerusalem and makes it a city all people will praise.” (Isaiah‬ ‭62‬:‭6‬-‭7‬ ‭NCV‬)

Did you catch the part; “You should not stop praying”? The answer to the question is “never stop praying.”

The Apostle Paul told the Thessalonians; “Always be joyful and never stop praying.” (1 Thessalonians 5”17)

One time Jesus told a story of a judge who did not respect God - a woman approached him and nagged the judge until one day:

“He thought to himself, ‘Even though I don’t respect God or care about people, I will see that she gets her rights. Otherwise she will continue to bother me until I am worn out.” (Luke‬ ‭18‬:‭4‬-‭5‬ ‭NCV‬‬)

Like the nagging lady, In some ways, we should nag God and stay at it and never stop.

Jesus concluded this story with “The Lord said, “Listen to what the unfair judge said. God will always give what is right to his people who cry to him night and day, and he will not be slow to answer them.” (‭‭Luke‬ ‭18‬:‭6‬-‭7‬ ‭NCV‬‬)

Here’s the take-away. Just pray. Keep praying. Keep talking to God and never stop. God loves for us to talk to him. You might even make a list of people and the things you need to pray for.

Pray until the answer is clear or the situation or circumstance is over.

The truth is we should meet with God daily. Like any good relationship, we should talk frequently or daily. God loves to hear from us and desires a close relationship. Prayer is a great way to establish the relationship.

There is an old saying; If you want to hear from God, read the Bible. If God wants to hear from you - pray. Also, consider praying with others. If someone asked you to pray for them, just pray with them right then. It’s a powerful and positive surprise to those needing prayer.

We can pray to God. We can pray to Jesus. We can pray to the Holy Spirit - or all of them. This Holy Team can do anything and everything - so never stop praying.

LORD, give us the desire to come to you daily and just tell you of our concerns. You hear us. You love us. And you care so much, that you gave your only Son to live and die for us in order to forgive our sins and save our souls. Why would you abandon now? You won’t. Thank you a thousand times. IJNIP amen ♥️
