Heaven Has A Ladder

Is there really a ladder to heaven?
According to the Bible—yes, there is. But it’s probably not what you’re thinking. It’s not made of wood. It’s not built by effort or good behavior.
It’s not something we climb to earn our way up. It’s actually a person. His name is Jesus.
In John 1:51, Jesus says:
“I tell you the truth, you will all see heaven open and the angels of God going up and coming down on the Son of Man.” (NCV)
That verse is loaded with meaning. It’s a direct reference to something that happened way back in the Old Testament—Genesis 28:12—when Jacob had a dream.
“Jacob dreamed that there was a ladder resting on the earth and reaching up into heaven, and he saw angels of God going up and coming down the ladder.” (NCV)
That wasn’t just a weird dream. It was a picture of something profound—a connection between heaven and earth.
A moment where God was saying, “I’m not far. I’m near. There’s a way.”
Fast-forward to Jesus in the New Testament. He’s telling us He is that ladder. He is the connection. He is the way. Heaven has come down to us, and the bridge is Him.
Here’s what Jesus is saying:
“You will see heaven open” – In other words, get ready. God’s about to reveal something big. No more distance. No more silence. Heaven is accessible.
“Angels going up and coming down” – This is a picture of spiritual activity. Angels represent God’s work. His presence. His messages. His power moving.
“On the Son of Man” – This is where it gets real. Jesus says, “That ladder Jacob saw? That’s Me. I am the connection between heaven and earth.”
That changes everything.
We need access. We need a way. Life is hard. We mess up. We get hurt. And one day, every one of us will take our last breath. We need a Savior, not just to get us through life, but to lead us into eternity.
And Jesus is that Savior. He is the ladder. The bridge. The access point to the Father.
Why would God give us a ladder if He didn’t want us to climb it?
That tells me something. It tells me our lives matter. It tells me we have purpose. It tells me God wants us to know Him, walk with Him, and be with Him forever.
The ladder was never just about Jacob. It was about all of us.
So I’ll ask you: What’s your purpose? Why are you still here? Why did God allow the season you're in right now?
There is a reason. You and I aren’t here by accident. And we’re not alone. Jesus is standing here as the way—the ladder—inviting us to climb. Because one day, we will die and we need this ladder. Why?
To trust. To believe. To follow. To love. To worship. To be saved for a relationship with God.
GOD, please show us our purpose. Show us why we’re here and what we’re supposed to do with this life. Thank You for the ladder. Thank You for Jesus. Thank You that heaven is no longer out of reach. IJNIP amen ♥️
