Expectations of You

WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH WHAT YOU HAVE?

What knowledge, wealth, time, and skill do you possess and how are you using it?

What does God expect from us as we are only stewards of who we are and what we own? We come with nothing, we leave with nothing.

Is there an expectation from God?

Jesus told a story that describes God’s expectations. It was a story of ten men who were given one coin by the King:

”So the King called ten of his servants and gave a coin to each servant. He said, ‘Do business with this money until I get back.’ But the people in the kingdom hated the man. So they sent a group to follow him and say, ‘We don’t want this man to be our king.” (Luke‬ ‭19‬:‭13‬-‭14‬ ‭NCV‬‬)

The King returned one day (symbolizing Christ’s return) and the story only recounts three of the ten men. One gained ten more coins. He was given ten cities to rule. The second gained 5 more coins - he was given five cities to manage.

Notice the ones that did well, did not rest, they did more …

One man just kept the coin and did nothing with it. He remained a servant, but the one coin was taken from him and he was given nothing.

Did you notice what happened to the others that did not desire him as king? The king had them killed.

The story is simple. We are expected to do something with our salvation, our wealth and our lives. And what will happen to those who reject the king? They will die. I know it sounds preachy, but it’s Jesus’ story …

Yes, as Solomon once said ”God wants all people to eat and drink and be happy in their work, which are gifts from God.“ (Ecclesiastes‬ ‭3‬:‭13‬ ‭NCV‬‬)

There is nothing wrong with enjoying the fruits of our labor, yet we are called to do so much more. Like what?

I strongly believe we should give money to organizations like Charity Water, providing clean water to villages without. We should share Christ with others, help the needy, counsel those struggling, and work hard in all things.

The list goes on. It’s a process of building God’s Kingdom now and living out his commands that are designed for our best interest.

The main question is: Are we self-centered or other-centered? Do we love others as much as we love ourselves? Do we honor God in all that we do - and worship him?

How we live defines who we really are.

There is nothing like living as God prescribes. You can still have fun while serving, worshipping, loving and forgiving others.

LORD, help us be good stewards and evaluate how we manage the blessings you have given. IJNIP amen ♥️
