What Will You See When You Die?

How do you really feel about your own death?
When will it happen? Where will you be? How old will you be? How will it come?
Everyone dies. The death rate is still 100%.
And Scripture doesn’t shy away from it. Death is everywhere in the Bible, yet it’s never the end of the story for those who believe.
Take Stephen, for example. He was standing before religious leaders, recounting their shared history, Abraham, Joseph, Moses. But then he turned the mirror on them. He said,
“You stubborn people! You have not given your hearts to God, nor will you listen to him! You are always against what the Holy Spirit is trying to tell you, just as your ancestors were.” (Acts 7:51 NCV)
Let’s be honest. We don’t mind hearing about the sins of others. But call out my sin? That’s different. That’s personal.
And the crowd took it personally. They were so enraged they dragged Stephen out and began to stone him.
Yet even in that moment, when most of us would be overwhelmed by fear or pain, Stephen had peace.
“But Stephen was full of the Holy Spirit. He looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God and Jesus standing at God’s right side.”
(Acts 7:55 NCV)
And then he said something incredible:
“Lord, do not hold this sin against them.”
(Acts 7:60 NCV)
And then, he died.
The Bible is a mirror. It tells the truth. It shows us that we’re selfish. Sinful. Broken. But it doesn’t leave us there.
Because God doesn’t see us that way anymore—not if we belong to Jesus.
“Their sins and the evil things they do, I will not remember anymore.”
(Hebrews 10:17 NCV)
So when your final breath comes, what will you see?
Will it be fear? Regret? Panic? Or will it be peace? Jesus? Heaven?
That moment is coming. And it’s worth pondering.
GOD, I have no idea how or when I will die. But when I do, help me see you. Help me see heaven. Help me in my death. IJNIP, amen ♥️
