What Is Right?

If you were to define the source of “right and wrong” - what is your source?

I think we all know the various answers; our parents, our therapists, books, feelings, the way we were raised, experiences and the Bible. The list could keep going.

When it comes to determining right from wrong and putting my full faith in successful strategies, two things come to mind:

One, I don’t trust my own judgement. It’s bias, selfish and sinful.

During the OT times when there were Kings and Judges, the author of Judges wrote: ”At that time Israel did not have a king, so everyone did what seemed right.“ (Judges‬ ‭17‬:‭6‬ ‭NCV‬‬)

What “seemed” right, was not right and brought about failure, not only to people and famalies, but to kingdoms and nations.

The second foundation is; “I must trust God’s word.” It’s perfect counsel. It’s guaranteed. It’s fair, true and designed for my success and benefit.

No strategy in the Bible has ever been known to fail.

Even the hard to believe things like “loving your enemy” or “forgiveness to those who don’t deserve it”.

If I am going to give something 500% of my effort, I want to know I can rely on a positive outcome. I want it to help others and honor God. Only God’s counsel provides that.

The Bible is an incredible source to business, money, relationships, emotional and mental health, marriage, parenting, physical health and eternal life - and more.

It provides knowledge, a moral compass and wisdom. There really is nothing like it. It’s still the best seller and the most distributed book in the world.

If you read the Bible, your reading will grow to studying and morph into a life better lived. I guarantee it after 28 years cover to cover. I don’t say that to brag, it’s just surprising how it has improved me.

I’m still surprised, because I am quite the rascal. .The more I learn, the less I realize I know. It’s quite amazing.

LORD, help me read, study and most importantly follow your ways. It’s the true source to right and wrong. Help us to depend on studying it, and asking The Holy Spirit to help us live it in our lives. IJNIP amen ♥️
